Set amid bustling downtown Cabo San Lucas, in Plaza Bonita Mall, across the street from El Squid Roe, is La Trattoria Ristorante. This restaurant offers excellent traditional Mediterranean style Italian fare. In Sorrento, Italy, where owner Ciro Dimaio originated, a Trattoria is a small family-run restaurant that maintains family tradition. His Cabo San Lucas restaraunt fits this description. Ciro Dimaio came to Mexico during 1988 to visit his father, who is currently head chef at another restaurant in town, and loved the area so much, he never left. After working in several different restaurant positions in Cabo, Ciro decided to venture out on his own and opened La Trattoria Ristorante in 1994. His brother, Tony, joined him in Cabo during 2002 to lend his hand in the restaurant business. With such talent in the kitchen, these brothers, along with their father who has been head chef for 40 years, it is clear that the Dimaio family has the “true” Italian touch when it comes to food. One of the attributes that makes this restaurant special is the friendly staff and the owners are perfect hosts, who greet their customers and make certain your dinner is enjoyable and relaxing.

The extensive menu offers a wide variety of dishes from antipastas such as Melenzane alla Parmigiana (eggplant with mozzarella and tomato sauce) to wood oven baked pizzas and dinner entrees like Piccata al Limone (veal in white wine and lemon sauce) and Spaghetti with mussels, clams, olive oil garlic, and hot pepper. The Canelloni Al Forno (stuffed pasta), Agnolotti Di Aragosta (lobster Ravioli), and the Saltimbocca alla Caprese (veal medallions) are just some of the house specialties that would make excellent choices. Whether you are craving a tasty homemade pasta dish or the fresh catch of the day, La Trattoria has something to satisfy your pallet.

After working with Ciro for fifteen years, Head Chef Marin has developed authentic Italian cuisine and does a superb job preparing these dishes.

To accompany dinner, La Trattoria has a broad wine selection offering flavorful Italian, Chilean and Californian whites and reds. Whatever your preference may be, you can dine within the air-conditioned restaurant, on the outside patio, or on the sidewalk where people-watching is on-going entertainment in Cabo San Lucas.
